5 Tips for Selecting the Right Malpractice Attorney in Connecticut

Malpractice situations leave you feeling so violated and taken advantage of. People you’re supposed to be able to trust leaving you in a place of disarray because of their actions or lack of actions. Doctors, legal professionals, dentists, and even your dang therapist can make some mistakes that cost you a lot.

I personally had to deal with a legal malpractice suit. This is less common than the others, but finding someone who specializes in these areas is the same.

You’ll want to do a careful search for a Connecticut malpractice attorney.

Here’s what I’ve learned that might help you out.

    Table of Contents

    • 1) Use a Connecticut Malpractice Attorney Who Practices in the Area Where the Incident Happened
    • 2) Make Sure to Talk to More Than One Attorney So You Have Multiple Opinions to Think About
    • 3) Ask Them to Tell You About the Last Four Cases They Took On
    • 4) Find Out Their Worse and Best Case Scenario for Your Case
    • 5) Don’t Forget to Talk About Money and Time Costs in Detail
    • Now You Have the Keys to Finding the Attorney Who Fits Best with You

    1) Use a Connecticut Malpractice Attorney Who Practices in the Area Where the Incident Happened

Especially if your malpractice experience happened in a different state, you’ll want to find an attorney who regularly takes cases in the area of the incident. This is because they will know the small regulations and laws for that location. If they are unfamiliar, they may miss using a crucial piece to make your case or defend it.

    2) Make Sure to Talk to More Than One Attorney So You Have Multiple Opinions to Think About

They offer free first meetings so take it! You can talk to as many different legal pros as you need to feel good about what direction to go. Maybe someone is good but they just don’t give with you. Finding someone you’re comfortable talking to is important.

    3) Ask Them to Tell You About the Last Four Cases They Took On

If they don’t tell you about three or four cases of malpractice that they’ve just worked on, then they’re probably no good. You need someone who is fresh to what’s going on in this type of law. This way they can use relevant cases or references to law to build you a solid case.

    4) Find Out Their Worse and Best Case Scenario for Your Case

This is a test in honesty. You don’t need someone who wants to put rose colored glasses on you. Solid opinions based on present and past knowledge is what you need so you can make decisions that are best for you. A good attorney will be able to see potential downfalls in your case right off the bat.

    5) Don’t Forget to Talk About Money and Time Costs in Detail

You Need to know exactly what you’re getting into and what you’re paying for. Compare how much it costs to run a suit up front versus how much you’ll pay out if you use a contingency fee agreement. Most likely it will make sense to go contingency, but knowing the whole picture is best. Also be sure to ask if there are any other fees not listed or any potential costs should the case not be won.

Now You Have the Keys to Finding the Attorney Who Fits Best with You

Truly I feel for you if you have to go through one of these situations. It’s awful and violating. Took me a long time to recover the ability to trust professionals again. But using a Connecticut malpractice attorney to help me get protection and justice at least made it easier to deal with.
