One of the things that we have to be careful about especially since the evolution of working at home is fatigue.  There are higher and higher occurrences of hypersomnia thanks to the stresses and results of traumatic events.

While there are the issues of society that we have to deal with, there are also people who have Chronic Fatigue which is a medical condition that heavily affects the rest and ability to gain energy for those that suffer from it.

To help combat both types of fatigue, here are a few proven strategies to help you out.

    Intentional Rest

There’s rest, and then there’s intentional rest.  The major difference between the two is that one is because you’ve exhausted yourself and the other is preemptive.  When you intentionally rest, you are doing so in order to best serve your body and help yourself repair.

There’s no work, no blue light, maybe some light reading, and time for your mind to reset and your body to regenerate.  The goal is to let your body use the energy that you have to repair and reset.  It could also help to meditate during a rest session to help keep your mind calm.

    Working Out

While it seems counterintuitive, working out can help with fatigue.  It does because it gets your body moving, nutrients flowing around, and keeps your mind focused on one thing.

For many people, the gym is a great place to go to get away from possible stressors, but you can also work out at home.  There are lighter workouts such as yoga and pilates and those that raise your heart rate more such as HIIT or Tabata.

Try out a few things to find what works best for you.

    Dietary Changes

When you have fatigue that is ruling your life it is hard to stay on a healthy diet.  Crunchy foods provide comfort and help ease any pain while sugary snacks are those that calm emotions and create a serotonin feedback loop.  There’s no lie to the term that food is medicine.

However, when dealing with fatigue, you have to keep in mind that there are many foods that are going to make your fatigue worse.

    Supplements

Fatigue can be caused by a lack of nutrients and to be quite honest, the amount of foods that don’t have as many nutrients as they used to is astounding!  This is where supplements can help to bolster your system: multivitamins are a great way to get those nutrients.

    Dietary Changes

One of the biggest ways to assist your body when dealing with fatigue is to be very conscious of your food and what you are eating.  Getting healthy oils such as avocado oil, high antioxidants through berries, and high fiber and micronutrients through a great deal of vegetables will greatly help balance your body out.

    Doctoral Intervention

If your fatigue isn’t going away, then it’s time to ask for help from your doctor.  Part of fatigue can always be life changes, but it can also be a sign that you have Chronic Fatigue if dietary and lifestyle changes don’t help.

If you don’t have chronic fatigue, a doctor can help you tease apart the parts of your life where you need additional assistance.  For example, what specific minerals you need, sleep medication, or even concentrated supplements that are used to help get your body restarted.

    Medical Marijuana

Very rarely, it could be that you need to address your fatigue with something a little stronger and more natural than other options.  There are very specific strains of marijuana that are extremely helpful for fatigue and sleep issues.

Because of how difficult it can be to find strains as well as gain access to medical marijuana, check out Marijuana Doctors where they have information on different strains and can also direct you to the appropriate resources for your state.

    Lifestyle Changes

One of the hardest things to do is change how you are living.  Sometimes, fatigue can be caused because there is an imbalance in how you are living your life.  There might be too much work going on, you may need to hire a nanny for some help with your kids, or you may need to invest in a cleaning service to help out around the house.

It is incredibly difficult to manage everything in life so don’t be embarrassed to change up the do-it-all attitude and ask for some help.

    Conclusion

Dealing with fatigue is one of the hardest unseen problems that many people have to work around.  From insomnia, to overworking or healing from any number of issues, it’s a real aspect of life that has to be handled.  Try out some of the tips above and don’t forget to check in with your doctor.
