The PMP certification exam result has been released for one more month. Here I would like to make a summary of it and give some suggestions to students who want to take PMP exam questions. I have benefited a lot from the guidance and experience shared by other certificate holders.
Introduction to PMP certification
PMP certificate is issued by PMI, Project Management Institute in the United States. The certificate is recognized by many countries. PMP exam is established and organized by the institute. The exam questions are designed by the institute members. When the exam is done, the questions will not be released. The test consists of 200 choice questions, among which 25 questions are not counted into the score. Different from the domestic exam, you cannot find official PMP exam question dumps. Therefore, reading the textbook is very important.
My PMP exam prep
1.Make a learning plan and carry out the feasible plan strictly
I participated in the exam on March, 2018. I signed up for the training classes and started preparing on December, 2017. At the beginning, I felt that I had adequate time, but because of various reasons, the time for preparation was actually very tight. On February, 22, I even did not finish reading the textbook. Therefore, I made a plan and followed the plan strictly.
First, read each chapter of the guidance and finish reading within 13 days. Second, do the PMP exam sample tests and one set of real exam questions. Review the mistakes. Third, three days before the exam, keep improving the weaknesses.
Following such a plan meant that I had to spent four hours learning every day. I had to wake up at 5:30 am and slept at 11:30 pm. I persisted for three days and felt very tired, but I still had much to learn. Therefore, I adjusted to learn 2 and a half hours a day, finishing a chapter by using 2-4 days. The whole process was exhausted. I wanted to pass the exam, so I could only persist. I suggested you making a schedule ahead of time.
If you find it hard to wake up early, the following tips may be useful.
Set the morning call and put the mobile phone away. Do regular exercise. A good physical condition can keep you in a good mood and make you be more self-discipline.
2. Read the textbook before attending classes and listen to the classes carefully.
Reading the book is vital. You should at least read it three times to understand the inner links and framework of the knowledge. It is necessary to recite some knowledge. Reading textbook ahead can improve your learning efficiency.
If you do not have the time to read, listen to the class carefully and review according to the explanations given by the teacher.
3. It is the methods of doing questions matter instead of the number.
I do not recommend you to do a number of questions. The characteristics of PMI PMP exam are:
It does not have original questions. It does not have fixed forms. It is meaningless to do lots of questions. It is more important to know the what the question is testing you. Most questions are based on the actual cases, requiring students to analyze the case and choose the correct answer instead of testing your understanding on the concept directly.
When you are doing the sample tests and encountering the knowledge you do not understand, find the corresponding chapter and digest the knowledge on time.
Control the time of answering questions. It is risky not to allocate the time.
