Price
Tata Tiago EV is currently India’s most affordable electric car available for purchase and can be had from just Rs 8.69 lakh ex-showroom with a range of 257 to 315 km and DC fast charging capability that reportedly adds 110 kilometers in just 30 minutes.
As with its counterpart, the Tiago EV features a spacious and well-appointed cabin, but stands out from other EV models with special touches like exterior badges that identify it as such and light blue inserts around its air conditioner vents to mark itself out as being different from others.
The Tiago EV shares its suspension system with its ICE counterpart, though its tuning has been altered to account for the additional weight of battery pack. As a result, ride quality remains firm but never unsettling or uncomfortable at low speeds; at higher speeds however, stability and easy driving characteristics become evident.
The top-of-the-line XT variant boasts a 24kWh battery and boasts a claimed range of 194km on a single charge, plus features such as push button start stop, cruise control, cooled glove box and rain sensing wipers; as well as Harman-sourced seven-inch infotainment system featuring Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. Discover the features and specifications of the Tata Tiago EV, including its impressive range and how to conveniently charge it using an EV charger.
Performance
Tata has done an exceptional job integrating its battery pack into the Tiago EV while keeping its footprint and floor height unchanged. This car provides a comfortable ride over rough roads while remaining stable enough for triple digit speeds on highway runs; light steering makes it an excellent urban tool.
The electric motor produces 73 horsepower and 114 Nm of torque for S mode driving, making it quite peppy and offering acceleration times from zero to 60 in under six seconds.
Tata has equipped their e-hatch with an advanced 7-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, automatic climate control, cruise control and steering-mounted audio controls – not to mention an array of safety features like cruise control. Tata also included their ZConnect app so drivers can locate their EV and monitor its charge level remotely.
Range
Tata claims the Tiago EV can cover 315 kilometers on one charge thanks to its small permanent magnet synchronous electric motor which delivers 84 horsepower and 110 Nm of instant torque. Furthermore, its six-speed transmission does an admirable job at transmitting power down onto the road.
Tata has done an exceptional job of equipping their Tiago EV. Even its base XE variant comes equipped with multi-mode regen and two drive modes (City & Sport). Furthermore, automatic climate control, projector headlamps, cruise control and rain sensing wipers come as standard features as do 45 connected car features such as remote AC on/off with temperature settings; geo fencing/car location tracking as well as mobile app that shows real-time charge status status.
The XZ+ Tech LR variant boasts leather seats and various additional features, such as auto headlamps and wipers as well as an electrically operated tailgate. Furthermore, there’s also a rotary drive selector and 8-speaker Harman infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration.
Interiors
Tata Motors recently unveiled a teaser image of their Tiago EV that showcases its signature Teal Blue paint scheme. Tata has reserved this color exclusively for their electric cars such as Nexon EV and Tigor EV; currently seen on them both. The front fascia of this EV model resembles that of regular Tiago models with its blanked-off grille bearing an EV badge and light blue “Humanity line” running between its headlamps.
The car will come equipped with either a 19.2 kWh battery pack with an estimated range of 250 km or a larger 24 kWh unit that has the ability to travel up to 315 kilometers on a single charge. For optimal performance, larger batteries should be combined with 55kW motors that produce 114 Nm of torque for optimal results.
Inside, the EV will feature a seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, air conditioning, automatic climate control, height adjustable driver seat, flat bottom steering wheel with mounted controls as well as air conditioning and automatic climate control.
Technology
Tata has always excelled at offering comprehensive features, and the Tiago EV is no different. The XZ+ Tech LR variant boasts multi-mode regen, two drive modes (City limits torque to 75% while Sport unleashes it), automatic climate control, rain sensing wipers, cruise control and electric ORVMs that fold automatically – plus an 8-speaker Harman infotainment system equipped with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
On the road, the Tiago EV exudes sophistication and refinement. It’s easy to zip in and out of gaps quickly and has a small turning radius; parking in tight spaces shouldn’t be a problem either – its suspension even absorbs harsh bumps well! Unfortunately it lacks a spare wheel; instead Tata provides an electric air compressor and puncture repair kit as a substitute.
Tiago EV battery packs are rated at 24 kWh and can be charged to 80% using a fast charger in about 30 minutes, taking 24 units of electricity (pricing may vary based on location and slab). Tata’s charging network currently covers over 400 locations worldwide.
